How do I get a transcript of an Apple Podcasts episode?
+
Copy the episode link in Apple Podcasts (Share → Copy Link), paste it into OmniTranscript and click Get transcript. You get the full text of the episode with timestamps right in your browser, ready to copy or export as TXT, SRT or WebVTT. It is free and works even when Apple does not show a transcript for that episode.
Can I download the full transcript from Apple Podcasts?
+
Not from Apple itself. The Apple Podcasts app lets you read transcripts, but it has no download or export button. With OmniTranscript you can download the complete transcript of any public episode as a TXT file, or as SRT and WebVTT subtitle files, in one click.
Why can I only copy 200 words from an Apple Podcasts transcript?
+
Apple limits transcript selection to 200 words at a time, and each copied passage is shared with an attribution link back to the episode. To get the whole episode as text, paste the episode link here and use Copy Text — it copies the entire transcript at once, with or without timestamps.
Why is my Apple Podcasts transcript not showing or not working?
+
Apple only generates transcripts for some episodes. Common reasons: the show's language is not supported, the episode was published recently (transcripts can take hours or days to appear), the show was added by RSS feed URL, some publishers' shows simply have none, or dynamically inserted ads changed parts of the audio. OmniTranscript transcribes the episode audio directly, so you can still get a transcript in these cases.
Can I read Apple Podcasts transcripts on Windows, Mac or in a web browser?
+
On Mac, the Podcasts app shows transcripts on macOS Sonoma 14.4 or later, but they do not scroll along with playback. On Windows and in web browsers, Apple's transcript support is limited. OmniTranscript runs in any browser — Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Linux or phone — so you can read, copy and export a transcript without the Apple Podcasts app.
Which languages does Apple Podcasts transcribe?
+
As of 2025, Apple generates transcripts for 13 languages: English, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish (including regional variants). Shows in other languages usually have no transcript. OmniTranscript detects the spoken language automatically and also transcribes languages such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic and Hindi.
How do I find the link to an Apple Podcasts episode?
+
Open the episode in the Apple Podcasts app or on podcasts.apple.com, tap the ••• or Share button and choose Copy Link. Make sure it is an episode link: it looks like podcasts.apple.com/…/id123456789?i=1000…, where the "?i=" part identifies the episode. A link without "?i=" points to the whole show, not a single episode.
Can I use the transcript with ChatGPT to summarize an episode or write show notes?
+
Yes. Copy the full transcript, with or without timestamps, and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or any AI tool to summarize the episode, pull key quotes, or draft show notes, blog posts and social posts. Timestamps make it easy to point back to the exact moment in the episode.
Can I export a podcast transcript as SRT or WebVTT subtitles?
+
Yes. Click Export and choose SRT or WebVTT to get a timed subtitle file for audiograms, video clips, YouTube uploads or editors like Premiere Pro, Final Cut and CapCut. TXT is also available for plain text.
Does it work for paid or subscriber-only episodes?
+
No. OmniTranscript works with public Apple Podcasts episodes only. Episodes locked behind Apple Podcasts Subscriptions or private feeds cannot be accessed.
Is it free, and do you store the episodes?
+
Transcribing an episode is free, with no sign-up and no credit card. The audio is processed only to create your transcript and is discarded right afterwards.
